  • E30 M3 powered by S62

Hey, I have seen two cars here in Greece powered by S62 but they could not use the stock ecu. The car I am posting below is in Germany and works perfectly fine with the stock ECU. It makes you wonder.

        Hi
the owner of this car lives in my city - he has a taste for "special " cars ( over 10 )

and from what it lookes like a favour for M enignes ;-)

All his engine conversions are made from what i know from Manhart Racing .

Here's a link from their webisde and the prices for their conversions. http://manhart-racing.de/blog/?p=500

And here you can see the E30 M3 again http://manhart-racing.de/blog/wp-con...v8-420-ps2.pdf

He has several cars with S85 engine conversions for example like this one that was shown in the German TV Show called GRIP http://www.youtube.com/v/VqW_WksFqNU&hl=de_DE&fs=1& view from 04:00

Guys thats all I have. I have no idea if the oil pan is stock or not. The point is that the engine works perfectly with the stock ecu on the E30 M3. Thanks a lot Maki.

@TSAF - on the posted .pdf-link they write that the engine works with ALPHA-N so not totaly stock ecu

Maybe for more infos you could contact the tuner

            Bye

I think Alpha N works in combination with the stock ecu. I think that if you use Alpha N you cancel the MAF sensor. Usually they fit Alpha N when they place carbon intakes and such. Maki thanks again for their contact details.

There is no point using the stock ECU. With a good aftermarket ECU, the entire system and wiring will be much more simple, fault proof and clean looking.

The stock oil pan of a S62 won't fit to the e30 chassis.

The point is that there is no-one in Greece to programm a good aftermarket ECU. I had a very bad experience.

To use the stock ecu i believe you will also need the original key, ews and trans computer if the s62 uses 1. The s62 pan fits perfect in the e30 chassis. It will allow the engine to go back as far as possible before touching the firewall while at the same time the pan just before touching the subframe. At its lowest the top of the heads will sit about even with the shock towers.

Wow, I am very impressed with this swap. I would love to have the s85 in my future e30 m3.
