Ok guys, just in case anyone comes across this thread. Pulling the strut assembly without detaching the bottom section from the control arm and the tie rod knuckle is crazy talk. The strut assembly...
Thanks guys.. if tie rod removal is involved then I am 100% certain it's better to just remove the bottom 4 bolts and take the whole things out (plus the brake caliper). I was hoping to skip the...
Guys, quick question. I never had to remove the front strut assemblies before. I need to replace the top hats and I am wondering if I were to remove the sway bar links and then just unbolt the 3...

Condition 1 description on the top left is funny :)
...anyone care to speculate on the sudden bump upwards?
I will never understand why people take it personally when one throws out a lowball offer. It's his job to throw an offer and yours to turn it down. If I were you I would say "let me think about it"...
"... nut remains welded to the bracket..........."
Ah jeez, I am going to have a nightmare about this.
Whatta PITA!
Got the passenger and bottom one out. As I got the 2nd one out 2 hours later the horror regarding the top one started to dawn on me. Now looks like the "nut" is actually welded to the...
that;s a good one! had no idea.
I can't wait for my duralast to go so I can get a braille. ~13lbs of weight savings. But it's a bit pricey and requires a "custom tray".
Wonder how these will compare to Toyo R1Rs, which I think are excellent tires. But I have a feeling they will be better.
Typical dyno charts show the same scale for both HP and Torque. In this case there are two different scales for one and the other, which appears to have sent the S14 community into a tizzy.
So far BMW's marketing strategy has proven to be one of the best (if not the best) in the industry. I am willing to bet your speculation is flawed. As far as I am concerned giving a logical...
I observed a similar phenomenon with M1 vs RedLine as well. M1 running hotter and getting there faster. All I can say is that it is probably the difference in thermal capacity between the 2. At 210...
Here's my post a while back. I didn't go all the way with WAR and/or a carbon fiber box.

If I could own the one 2 cars to the left, then I would be in heaven :)
For me oil analysis is the only real answer.
Yup, it's the dark side of economic prosperity.
Gasoline IN -> Economy -> Garbage OUT.
Nice ride!.
I've been a member here for just under a decade. I'll jump in and thanks S14 yet again!
Aside from the constipated narrator, it was good :)
+1. Knowing that the cars have nothing in common with the ones we buy at the dealer aside from a look-alike outer shell leaves a feeling of irrelevance for my passion towards this car.
On the...
Looks like you have the stock sensor. The stock front fan does not provide means for regular engine temp cooling, it's the "backup" plan because of the clutch fan (US cars). So, when you remove the...
At what temp (needle pos on the dash) does the fan 1st kick in?
61 31 8 361 787, yes, screws in place of the stock temp switch on the thermostat housing.
The AC sensor's switch feeds off of the sensor located on the thermostat down below. The brown sensor on the rail is ONLY for the dash gauge, the blue sensor is ONLY for the DME fuel enrichment...
Hey man, the AC fan upfront does turn on when the temp reaches a certain point. All you have to do is use the connection leading up to the old stock AC fan and put a lower temp 318i switch on the...
I bend mine using the rubberized handles on a nice set of electric pliers. You can place the line between the handles and bend gently.
Yes, they come flared but not bent. By the way I use a pretty effective trick to bend brake lines. Tape the straight and the old bent tube together at the tip, then proceed to making bends that match...
Just did the 25mm conversion. Highly recommend it for shorter brake travel. With proper pads you won't even need that much more effort.
Bleeding is always the 1st thing that should be done.
This was great!. We all know this is happening but to actually see it... it's amazing that the life of an engine isn't few days.
I dunno about the marketing failure. BMW sales have been astonishing considering the global financial problems we face today. I think their marketing is superb, they know which card to use and when.
I thought I read somewhere that the a touring car is one that has a front mounted engine and is capable of carrying more than 1 passenger.
The area just behind the top side of the rear bumper has the lowest pressure when the car is at speed. This low pressure zone "sucks" the exhaust gases out and assist scavenging.
Had my car serviced a few times. Mario was a great a resource early on when I knew little about these cars. Highly recommend!
