Don't know about the cams, but changing the valve guide seals on my motor made a HUGE diffrerence in the oil consumption. (In a good way)
I believe you have to use a regular bulb for the alternator light, the LED doesn't work in that circuit.

BMW used these back on the 2002's. Most people put them on top to lower the car....
"Can you describe how your car was used or the circumstances of the event? I'm curious to know more. "
The motor had about 163K when I installed it. I changed the main and rod bearings and oil...
My motor had about 170K on it when the plastic guide (on the driver's side) shattered into about 20 pieces. Unfortunately one largish piece dropped straight down between the the crank gear and the...
Possibly the switch in the thermostat that operates the A/C fan is the low temp 318i switch and not the original higher temp M3 switch.
Where is the VAC temp sensor located? I assume its not...
There is a black wire that comes out of the harness that goes to 1 terminal of that switch. The other wire off the switch would go to the AC compressor to operate the clutch. Some people bypass this...
yes, yes, the M3 has been sold.
Thank You, Frank

Remove the intake pump assembly and see if the sender fits to the assembly while outside the tank.
Wire #1 looks like the purge valve connector
Also, there may be washers under the acorn nuts.
Not a Salvage Title vehicle.

"Dumb question: When you refer to Pullup on and Pullup off what does that mean?"
That sets what direction the signal level goes when the shutter passes through the hall effect switch. It can be...
Also, another continuity check (if you haven't done it already) is to check that there is no continuity between the sensor leads and ground.
You can quik check the sensor for output by using your multimeter in AC volts mode. it should be putting out about .5 - 2 volts AC rms at cranking speed

Car is back together. Needs work on R/F rail and rad support, but is very driveable

I just checked a silver coil recently: .52 ohms primary, 6.35 kohms secondary
There is no seal on the OE shock insert retaining nut, the seal on the insert is it.
I don't believe there is a seal on the top of the Bilstein insert itself, ther's no room for it.
"is the car still for sale? and willing for any trades?"
I will post it here when the car is sold.
Not really looking for trades.
Added photos of the front of the R/S frame rail
Your photo is correct. I would have thought the cover is flush with the flywheel
The cover turns with the crank, it doesn't touch the input shaft. The input shaft must spin independent of the crank when the clutch is disengaged. I would guess there is less than .001" play...
Car and I are located in Nassau County, Long Island, NY.
I had a minor front accident with my car, and i don't really have the interest right now to repair it, so I'm seeing if anyone is interested in buying. Nothing mechanical was affected, the car runs...
Not usually the ABS unit that goes bad, On the early cars, there is a silver(?) relay right next to ABS unit under the dash, there is a fusible link inside that burns up. If that is OK, check the...

The seal can sit flush with the ridge. It can be recessed a little if there is a deep v groove where the old seal was riding on the on the pulley. It should be 'square' with the ridge surface....
My car's been doing the same thing...and I definitely have Royal Purple in there. I actually thought it was bad inner CV joints.
The ecu uses that pin for determining firing position for the ignition coil.
Not actually a tooth, more like a pin, and there is only one.
If you can line up the pin in the center of the pickup hole (after you remove the sensor), you can remove the flywheel cover and count...
I think it's 29 teeth before TDC. I did count this out once, but of course I didn't write it down anywhere.

It's a cardboard panel.
Of course you already know that the OE jack is just for show, nobody actually uses it to lift the car. Get yourself a decent bottle jack, just in case.
There's no box - that's part of the jack.
There's a hole in the "box" which slips over the same stud that holds the cover hold down nut. you can see it if you close in the picture. The jack sits...
