I like the A4, but have heard negative things about reliability. Control arms seem to be a wear item, even when not tracking the car.

My DD for the past 5 years has been an E30 325is. Nothing ever goes wrong with the car.

I would love to get an e30 as a dd but I can't seem to find one that I like. Here in MA they are all rusty POS's and people want ridiculous money for a rust free car. I would love to get an e36 but again they have a fairly high resale value in our area so I can’t find any with reasonable mile's for less than 7k so I have been looking at the Audi. I drove it and I was impressed, no where near the control of any BMW but as a dd it was well behaved and had some balls when you stepped on it. The other nice thing about the Audi is the galvanized (or something) body's which are very rust resistant. Seeing as the car will be in Cleveland when I am at school I would like something that would resist rust seeing as Cleveland salt's the shit out of the roads. So for 5k I get a pretty nice car that is awd 5spd and is German. Like most true car enthusiasts I absolutely hate fwd and there aren’t many options for cars I would really consider driving. I actually looked at an 87 MB 190e 16v 5spd w/120k I liked it a lot but it was at a dealer and they wanted ~5k which I thought was ridiculous.

Well I am going to have my neighbor (master audi/bmw tech) check over the A4 and we will see what happens.

Any other opinions and/or suggestions are welcome.
