is there a gauge that tells you how much you are getting?

the trip computer will estimate, and it's usually pretty accurate. but i went by filling up, driving a known distance, filling up again and diving the miles by gallons.

I used to get around 32 highway, now it is around 29. I need to check that to see if it is still low after the things that I just did to the car.

    Usually ~27 though.

how can you keep your foot out of the throttle on these cars? i get around 260 miles out of a tank. i got about 120 miles per tank before i replaced my faulty afm! i didn't realize the tank has a 14.5 gallon capacity. even when i let the needle get down around reserve i can only put 11.5 gallons in it. that means i get approximately 22.608695 miles per gallon. i get about 340 miles to a tank on the highway which comes out to approximately 29.565217 miles per gallon. math class does come in handy!

Math class?? All you need to do is a simple calculation on a calculator. LOL :D :p

do you know another tool that's better for math class than a calculator? who needs to do all that writin'? the guy a few posts up that didn't know how to figure his milage should have one , but would he know what to do with it?

I have a US Spec and I get around 17 mpg. The OBC isn't even close to accurate even on the e36 m3's on how many miles are left on the tank and I'm confused about the capacity of my tank. I'm the third owner but I believe I have a stock tank and the most gas I've ever put in is about 12 gallons. I'm mean the light's on, my range is 6 miles so I'm guessing the tank was pretty much bone dry when I filled it up. Anyone else have a different sized tank other than the 14.5 gallon?

Damn, the OBC says about 18.5. That's not too good (stock chip, Evo intake, not driving *too* crazy)... time to start keep track of receipts. I bet I've got an intake leak somewhere.. :D

Anyone know what it (the vacuum) is supposed to pull completely, or close to, stock? Any common places for an intake leak to start?

    Thanks, Mike

i may be wrong but intake leaks should cause a lean condition which should actually save you gas. my afm had problems (seemed to be flatspots in the resistance curve as the needle swept across the circuit) and when i changed it out it totally changed the a/f mixture and i started getting almost twice the gas milage. there are many other reasons but you may be running a little rich.

On my most recent trip I got 31 mpg per the OBC with an average speed of 53 mph per the OBC, but that included quite a bit of picture time idling with the A/C on to keep the wife cool....

I get around 32 mpg (euro MPG) out of mine at roughly 75mph. Also have returned 27.6mpg at 100-110mph over a 65 mile distance according to the OBC. Car sees mostly 98ron fuel and I`m still carrying around some heavy equipment (AC & those crappy little headlight wipers for example )

Ok, my car must be jacked. I fill up when the reserve light comes on and the OBC usually says 34 miles until empty. I get roughly 185 miles before the light goes on and it takes about 11.85 gallons of gas. I aways use 91 octane but fuh, my eta gets 35+mpg while ripping on Hyundia's and Kia's all day long. Well looks like my car may be the next smog project Eric.
