Answer seems to be pulling the pedal up hard.

I just read the above guide, but missed one point.

How do I tackle the throttle pedal? I seems in the way.
disconnect cir-clip that holds the top of the pedal to the metal rod.
flip pedal backwards towards back seat, and the carpet will slide right over the pedal.

Spray paint and tire shine doesn't equate to a "restoration!"

I just did this, I have not quite finished, but the dash & heater box are back in and the car runs this takes a long time due to all the little things that break on a 19 year old car. plus cleaning all the dust & crap out.
removing this stuff is the only way to do it right

As for removing the lower heater box half, it might be a PIA because of the clips in the front, and the control cable. I replaced the bottom of mine while it was on the bench (broken mount for the left side center console)

along with a bunch of other things I did to the car, this was one heak of a winter project!
Now if I can just get around to installing the new leather on the seats I will be ready to go!

That would be great. In particular, I am looking for photos of how the front edge sits, on both the driver and passenger sides. My e-mail is beastpower@beastpower.com.

    Thanks, Daniel.

maybe this will help, it is outlined in Blue. there are two bolts that hold it in just forward of the steering column cover.

From what I've heard, both of those are NLA from BMW. The best bet would be to have your local dealership conduct a search for you.

Thanks for all of the notes gentlemen. I am also replacing my carpet as the current winter project. I removed a good looking carpet from a pick and pull yard for 50 bucks. Getting it out took a solid 3 hours and I was not being gentle with anything else but the carpet...
