My dogleg box was suffering from very bad "cold shifting" and generally quite clunky on a good day. I just changed from 70w-90w to the Redline Lightweight Shockproof and HOLY CRAP!!!!! what a difference. Within metres of driving the shifting became as smooth as silk. The gears engage beautifully when the car is cold ( right now its around 6 degrees C ) and the up and down changes are great.

I could not recommend this stuff highly enough. It's AWESOME !!!!!
Best $50 I've spent so far.

That light weight shockproof is some amazing stuff! Back in my FSAE days we where running a ring and pinion in opposite rotation and had huge problems with breaking ring gear teath. We went to the local Redline rep and got some Shockproof and boy did those gears run nice! The wear was about perfect and the ring gear obliteration was almost eliminated.

    Very good stuff!

My dealer recommended a good quality ATF Dexron II for the trans and diff. Anyone using ATF?

I was recommended an ATF also but did the research and decided that the Lightweight Shockproof is the way to go for a synchro box...IMHO

Im also a firm believer in Redline lightweight shockproof. Works excellent, shifts smoother, and quieter.

One thing that I noticed is that the Blue Lightweight shockproof increased the lightweight flywheel shatter on my tranny vs the MTL. Right now I'm using the Redline high Temp ATF fluid and oddly enough the noise was drastically reduced. Thinking of trying the red heavy duty shockproof to see how that works.

Thats interesting feedback as I am about to install the 8lb flywheel. Was the noise only at idle or was it there constantly. From what I gather the 8lb flywheels are noticeably noisier at idle anyway.

Can the lightweight and heavyweight be mixed together? Is this something anyone has tried?

    Cheers

Are people using Lightweight or Superlight ShockProof in their gearboxes (the Superlight at 75w90 seems a better match to the MTL at 75w80)?

Redline state that Lightweight and Superlight ShockProof are "not recommended for most synchro-type transmissions" has anyone has any problems using ShockProof in the gearbox?

As for the diff.: once again are people using Lightweight or Superlight Shockproof? Are there any problems with the LSD in using Shockproof rather than the recommended 75w90 which "contains friction modifier which is recommended for limited-slip units"?

I mix 1-qt Heavy Shockproof 75W250 (Pink) then top off with Redline 75W/90 in both the Trans & Diff. for CA/NV/AZ heat protection.

12 months of fairly continuous driving with the lightweight shockproof and I can report that the gearbox and shifting is smooth and easy.

Good report Aaron, I was so convinced I put 100% Lightweight Shockproof (yellow) in the Trans. and 100% Heavyweight Shockproof (pink) in the Diff. and I'm happy to report it shifts like butter!

Hmmm..... my LW shockproof is blue ???????
I have been contemplating the HW in the diff... you may have just swayed me :gotcha:
Did you add anything else (friction modifiers etc) or straight?
    Cheers

Nope, no modifiers just the Redline Heavyweight 2 qts. in the diff. (pink)... Which fluid is blue? The Lightweight I used was rated 90W-140 yellow...
