I have heard good things about Lepsons, but sending my wheels all that way is a pain. Has anyone tried the carious mobile services that advertise online ?

Sadly, Lepsons do an amazing job - most of my friends wheels have passed through their hands at some point or another and my BBS are going to them in a week or so. The quality repair on my mate's RS6 after his wife kerbed it was superb - they were better than new after with perfect colour match.

Also, their price is pretty exceptional - I've been quoted £250 approx for 5 wheels.

They are based in Kent (UK).

I'd recommend BJV engineering in Hertfordshire. I've had a few sets done and the finish is brilliant.

Don't think Lepsons will touch split rims. not 3 piece anyway.

    Neither will BJV.

However there is chap next door to BJV that will, voodoo motorsport, believe that BJV do all the powder coating etc and Voodoo does the splitting and reassembly. A friend who was picking up his speedline centres from BJV had a chat with him, friend said that he seemed to know what he was doing, but no direct experience.

Had a set of E28 M5 wheels ( same as E30 M3 , but different offset ) which Lepsons did the refurb on and was very pleased with their work. They painrted the outer face in the correct silver and painted the inner part in grey, which I believe is correct for the factory wheels. Either way, was very happy.

This place did a repair on a BBS wheel part for me and did a good job, but I didn't have a complete 3 part wheel refurb, just the repair.

I'm not a fan of mobile repairs from the work I've seen from a few. Most tend to just 'tart up' wheels with a quick repair and paint for car dealers to look superficially pretty.
My Brother bought a car from an Audi dealer that had a refurb done to one of the wheels ( it was a condition of sale ) and it quickly looked tatty. The wheel isn't refurbed properly as the tyre stays on and the top coat was applied to the old top coat without any new primer or much in the way of rubbing down. It didn't take long for the paint to start to fall off in the wheel bolt holes and expose the old paint.
They also charge much the same price, if not more, than someone like Lepsons who strip and refurb the whole wheel, rather than a quick top coat to the front of the wheel.

I'd give a company called Renowheel in south wales a call.
I've never personally used them myself but I use them very frequently in work.
We regularly send them damaged Aston Martin diamond cut wheels worth in excess of £800 a rim for refurbishment. They do a fantastic job and come back to us better than new.
They are not the cheapest but we wouldn't use any one else.

For what it's worth guys, i did a split, refurb and rebuild of my RS's last year and apart from borrowing a bench grinder mounted polishing mop it takes no special skills or tools, just lots of hours, immense job satisfaction at the end though.

Updating this, I went with Pristine Alloy Wheels in the end. They removed the tyres and stripped, finished and powdercoated the entire wheel inside and out and I'm delighted with the finish. I'm certainly giving the kerbs a wide berth now, so lets hope for some longevity.

About £60 per wheel plus VAT. Various add ons for removing tyres etc.

PS - Sorry I couldnt say hello at Gaydon, but I wasn't there on the Sunday.

    Hi,
I'm having the lips on my BBS RC's mirror polished by a company in Coventry called PureKlass, Havent got them back yet but the dealings I have had with him have been first class.
He is also mending a ding on one of my new Schnitzer wheels.
Cant wait to see the finished product, also getting new bolts from Germany from a company called Felgenfuchs.de seem to be allot cheaper than anything I can get in this country.
Will post some pics when I get them back.
