In all honesty if the kit offered "only" 300hp but a train load of torque, that's all hat would be needed to make the e30M3 uber quick, even in straight line.

More power is the answer even when lack of power isnt the problem.

The kit will produce power and offer a big help to those that cannot get the custom work needed to fabricate an exhaust manifold, dump tube, piping, etc. The cost issue will still be those that want to bolt it to an S14 in need of a rebuild (like those with 100k+ miles). When you factor in the cost of a rebuild + the turbo kit, you will end up around the 15k+ number. The cost of around 6k (just saying a number) seems great until you put it on an old motor that can't take it and you break something.
Can't account for common sense in everything you do, but you're right. If your motor runs well, spending a few hundred on extensive testing of operating measures ( leak down, compression, checking crank and caps, checking cams and caps, oil pump, etc... ) will determine if you can do this without a rebuild.
Better yet, it'll tell you exactly what needs immediate attention and can help you plan and put $$$ aside accordingly. If anything this kit will help us make some great comprehensive content for people who are considering a turbo build.
Can I buy that from you an put it on a T shirt?... Maybe we will do a special E30 M3 Turbo t-shirt when the kit comes to fruition
In all seriousness; you guys basically ''get it''.
...This is the reason that S14.net is the only BMW forum I frequent haha.
The torque is the "fix" that makes the 6cylinders an appealing engine.
I think 300HP will be a kicking good time.
It really doesn’t sound like a lot in the era of 500+ HP 2010 BMW M cars, but its PLENTY fast for 90% of E30 M3 owners. Why turn such a balanced car into a dragster... Well that’s a different topic
So; for those that want more power It's really not terribly difficult:
For the cost of our kit + the cost of a mild 2.3 rebuild (think stock + forged pistons and rods) you would still be in a "reasonable" price bracket and make sick HP.
The E30 M3 with the V10 swap comes to mind for exotic killing ... forgive me ''bitch slap'' power.
With a turbo on above said engine, as we say in Philly "forget'aboudit"
I have had a few conversations with customers who want to get the kit going forward with us. So far we have had some promising discussions. Let me know guys.

This sounds amazing... finally. Props to Steve and the VAC crew for recognizing a need and trying to come up with something that many of us will be interested in.
As long as th kit can produce at least 200+ wtq by 2500 and make atleast 250 wtq further up in the power band, then it will give the M3 a much better chance against today's high dollar competition. :gotcha:

My thoughts exactly. I didn't buy my E30 to be the fastest car out there. I got it for the balanced combination of power, handling, styling, exclusivity, origin, looks, and most importantly the fun factor.
I recently thought about selling my car, but after much thought... I'm keeping it (hopefully forever), making some tasteful (in my mind) mods, and driving it. 300hp will make me perfectly happy if priced reasonably while keeping the s14.
Looking forward to this kit... as it seems a large population of s14 owners are!
I like the turbo idea.. however don't want to loose
my cf box sound.. It's just too good to my ears.
have a ?? Why they never turbo the s14 during DTM
Era?
Cheers.

I'll be running a carbon turbo airbox, just not the flimsy DTM copy. BMW F1 used a carbon manifold in the 80's F1 turbo era...

anders always has something up his sleeve
