Do you all think this is too far off to get it to go on, 1.25 inches off:

that appears to be off quiet a bit and it also looks like your shock tower is torn.Anyways Ive had a few of these and had to fight them on all of them.I put it on barely one side then jack up the other side and use a bit of force and push it on.But with the accidents your car has had you might want to put it up on a rack and measure it out and pull where needed if needed

Are you guys putting anything under the mounting plates of these Sparco bars, to protect the paint, or against any rubbing, etc?

Also, how many of you are drilling the third hole into your shock towers? I am a little wary of doing this...

You're supposed to drill that hole to help keep the bar rigid. Most people with this bar do not drill the third whole. Just using the top two holes still allows for slight flex, but unnoticeable by most.

If you have a really nice car i don't know what you should do... there are 2 very different ways to approach owning one of these... Collect it or drive the hell out of it... i'm of the later and therefore going to drill in the 3rd hole because that's what it was designed for and there is a reason it's there. If you want to pull the bar later on to sell it i wouldn't drill.

7/86 production. No problem with the strut towers. The old style air box interfered until it was modified, though.

My sparco bar fit with with some minor "wiggling" and jacking the car up. My car is a '89 with some track history. I'm reluctant to fit the fourth bolt only because of rust concerns down the road from drilling through the paint.

03/1988 build. Was a 1 1/2 hour fight to the death. The bar lost. Victory to me, the trolley jack and the rubber mallet. Now let my suspension guy have fun when he fits my Ground Control set up.
