We are having some Evo Sport bolster cloth reproduced. Should have the sample run in a week or 2 max. Am running a GB on S14power.com - anyone here interested?

    Cheers

Happy to ship to the US. At the moment only have pictures of a test run (that was used to setup the machines) so it is undyed and unfinished (i.e. doesn't have the final texture).

I'm expecting to get a finished sample end of this week, which will be dyed and finished - I'll post up some pictures of that along with original bolster pieces.

Selling by the linear metre - the roll is 60 inches wide. Sorry the mixing of imperial and metric units.:D

Sample arrives on Monday - at which point I'll post up pictures and give an indicative cost.

Let me know as well... your talking about the monochrome cloth... not the Mtech cloth yes?

Update: Sorry for the delay. The sample has come back and the colour is perfect.

Apologies for the length of this post - please bear with me!

The picture below shows a bolster panel from a Sport Evo seat (Steve Singleton's car)

The original cloth is underneath and the replacement cloth that he sourced from BMW is on top (now NLA). The replacement cloth is a shade out. What I mean by that - is that the replacement cloth is actually the same colour as a faded interior, as seen below,

but if you put it against an unfaded section - it is slightly lighter.

The choice was made to clone the replacement fabric as it hadn't aged, but use an unfaded part of an original bolster for colour matching. Here is a piece of new cloth (undyed) against Steve's replacement cloth, so you can see the weave etc.

Here is the new dyed cloth up against an original panel so you can see the colour,

The colour match is 99%+ (to my mind perfect). The colour is identical - unfortunately the camera\lighting doesn't really show it.

There is a little discussion taking place with one or 2 individuals, about thread diameters, weight of cloth (original vs new) and these sorts of matters. So there is a little way to go - but not far.

What I mean by that, is that if you view the cloth (new vs old) I think you would struggle to tell them apart at 6 inches plus from your face. Start bringing it closer, etc. and you may notice a difference. Or if you were to replace half a bolster, i.e. one side. But I feel you'd see the difference even if you used genuine cloth - simply because the original fabric on the car has aged and is worn and has developed a patina.

The sample fabric has also been Teflon coated using the Dupont process.

On this side of the pond, Richard Baxter has a sample - so perhaps he can chime in with his thoughts.

The cloth with sold by the linear metre and is expected to be approx 5 foot wide. Sorry for mixing imperial\metric. At this point I can't quote a final price, until the outstanding matters regarding thread diameter, weight of cloth, etc. are settled.

p..s Just to be clear it is the monochrome cloth and not the tri-colour cloth. That may come after.
