After reading Adam's post about his Friday night intake work, I've decided it's long overdo that I do the e34 / E3 intake upgrade.

I have a set of big greens waiting to go in now to, coupled with the new found power of the Alpha N, I'm going to be needing another chip I suppose, since I have the JC chip Turner packages with their 2.5 kits. What do you guys recommend? I plan to go CF intake as well as a group A header and 48 TB's down the road, so i'm looking for a chip in that broad range, if there is one, or did iigmotiv come out with their programmable 2.5 chips yet?

I plan do do all this before I hit the dyno sometime this late spring/summer, time permitting ( TB's, header and CF excluded)

    just a few notes:

when you redo the intake gaskets, you can
use the M5 paper, but you dont have to.
I never use the paper and works perfect.
so its not like you have to do that.

48 TBs will bring you mostly topend, and only if
the head is properly ported. head work is
the next biggest factor for you and that is where
Id concentrate. Think about it: so you "bolt on"
some "bigger" parts intake and exhaust side, but
your cylinder head is yelling at you "so what have you done
for me lately?" The S14 thrives on having things
    well balanced.

which *gr. A header* are you talking about?
It would be nice if people got into the habit of
simply specifying primary and secondary sizes,
then everyone knows exactly what you are talking
about. I presume you are speaking of either
    a 50/50 (rally, noncat, evo2) or 50/55 (evo3) type header.
sure, go ahead and put on a 50/50 header. Id save most
exhaust stuff until you really need it, e.g. your intake
is definately outflowing your exhaust setup thereby limiting
your topend. so many people like to do exhaust first,
but it should be one of the last things on your list, unless
your budget allows you to do everything at once.

believe it or not, I have my engine tuned for
a both a stock exhaust system and a higher flow
design (dual 60 mm pipes DTM style with 200 cell metal
cats). while the engine runs better with the new exhaust,
it still runs surprisingly well with a stock exhaust system.
the latter is suboptimal of course and costs power
(especially chokes off the top end), but stock is not bad
    at all.

what would be the best setup for headers? i'm not really all that educated when it comes to the M's choices. I don't want a full blown track header, i think for the street most people go with the "Italian M3" header? educate me John.

when I do the head, i'll do the whole thing, Big valves, porting, header, TB's and have it all matched, right now it's focusing on tuning and maintenence
