    Heya

i searched and did not find to much info...

Soooo, last night i removed my intake plenum and valve cover, stripped the paint, and am now going to paint them with high temp crinkle. i also took off the intake flutes as I decided i would like to clean them up as well. In the process I noticed one of my orings on the flute side (seals between flutes and tb's), is missing a small section. I have worked in the auto/moto parts world, and am curious if a similar oring from the local auto shop will suffice. I know most will recommend getting the BMW orings, but they seem to be hard to find online to purchase. I have subbed identical orings in the moto world a bunch of times. they look pretty plain jane to me, but possibly there is something i am missing....And do anyone suggest using gasket maker to enhance the seal? BMW part num for the oring = 13541307768 and i cant find them anywhere online... (i just called my closest dealer. they don't stock them, the above part number is no longer valid, but they can order them. they said it would be a week @ 10 bucks a pop... anyone have the proper part number, i didn't have time to ask..) will a properly applied gasket maker suffice? as long as there is a good seal correct?

i was also thinking of adding some gasket maker to the new valve cover gasket i got from turner. I have some copper permatex # 81878 that i was thinking of using. I have used this stuff with great success for many applications in the past, even without a gasket. just making sure i am not making a mistake by using it on the s14.

thanks a ton for any help!!

A regular non-BMW o-ring will work just fine there. Nothing special about them.
