From my research it seems like the grommets from BMW are all clear rather than black and red. Does anyone know if the red ones are still available? Thanks!

When you get a new cable they are clear, the next time your near a breakers yard call in and see if they have any E30's and get the red and black ones from it.

The last time I got one from the dealer, it was black. You may want to try again. It just may have been that batch. I ordered mine about a year and a half ago though.

I think the red ones were discontinued. They didn't hold up well and usually wound up ripping where they went through
the throttle bracket. The clear ones are a far superior material (silicone?). The red ones were more of a rubber compound.
I know, red ones came on the car originally and look proper....

FWIW I got a black grommet when I ordered just the single part last week. Today, I got a full cable and it came with a clear grommet, as noted above. The black ones feel a tad stiffer than the clear ones, but I agree that both are superior to my disintegrated red one ...

Thanks guys! I guess it's time to update the grommets on my car even if I can't keep it "original".

Just curious....my car has one red and one black.....what came originally...both red? Personally, I think the red looks "cool"!...Mine's stayin as long as it holds up.

That's how mine is too. The red one is starting to tear and is twisting at an angle and caused my idle to stick at slightly higher rpms than normal.

Black is for the throttle cable and Red is for CC originally.

I posted this in another throttle thread. Got tired of rubber in lots of places on the car including the throttle.

Thanks.....good to know. My red one must have been replaced at some point because my engine has 200k on it (but was gone through by the PO - a BMW Master Tech from Germany)....so he put a ton of new parts on the car....maybe it's new...sure looks nice anyway. If it's original, it's in amazingly good condition. I love these S14 Engines!

I bought the metal grommets based on autox320's suggestion a few months ago and they work great. I believe it works on all E30s but very easy fix ...
