A few months ago we closed the site for new registrants until they read a
post laying out the general rules for the forum. Then they had to email me
personally. We then lifted the gates so that the everyday casual reader
doesn't have to ask permission to post to the forum. It has become a major
problem again. We know almost everyday someone becomes a proud new
owner of a E30 M3, but the information that resides here on s14.net will
more than lightly cover most initial questions you may have.

Our only specialty is freedom! No sponsors, no banner ads, no secret deals
and NO BANNING. You are a VIP here.

The point of contention, or the reasons for creating this greeting/reminder
thread is to point out a few small but important issues that any normal
community will run into. SO, this is our attempt at keeping a balanced and
    harmonious community.

Please continue to read the few friendly forum advisories below:

First and foremost. SEARCH! Then search again.

We have 1,139 members with 8,733 Threads and 68,411 Posts. We're not
a big off topic community here so we have discussed most of the basics 10
times... Remember, wheels between 15"- 18" are the standard sneakers
and have been discussed in detail. And yes! We have discussed the Sparco
    strut bar!

Need help finding short words or terms? You can use an asterisk " * "
as a wild card character in your search. Such as 02* sensor, 18* , et* 30*, should
do the trick (You could even use 2 asterisks such as 17** or *17* ).

You may get 1,000 query returns, so may want to localize the search by
selecting in the additional fields: Search entire posts_, Search
titles only, Show results as posts, Show results as threads_ ...

Usually "Search titles only" will bring back the best and fastest results.

If there are 5 different threads on the same exact topic, but you'd like to ask a
slightly different issue... USE A PRE-EXISTING THREAD AND ADD TO IT. There's
nothing like having a healthy discussion all in 1 neat and tidy thread. It won't
Matter if it is from 2 years ago, bring it back "and make it your own M8!"-Simon

Admin turned-off attachments. Can't upload to Gallery?

If attachments have been turned-off by the Admin, then you simply cannot
upload attachments. We receive a lot of Private Messages (PM's) asking to
define/clarify "The Admin has turned off the attachment function!!"

As for uploading photos to our free Member's Gallery,
    http://www.s14.net/photopost/ ...

You'll now need 45 posts to receive 1/2 meg of space and 80 posts to get 1
    meg
. It's not a lot of space, but it all gets paid for by 1 person. Also, Gallery
space is for E30 M3 related pictures only.
All others will be erased without warning.

If you DO have access and you would like to share them on another site then
please follow these simple steps to locating your images address. After
you've uploaded your picture/s, select each individually so that they appear
one at a time at full size. Right click each image and choose "Properties",
copy the "Address (URL)." Then, when you are composing your thread/post
on s14.net just click the "IMG" button and paste the Address (URL) in the
prompt window. Again, You'll need to do this for each picture. Make sure
you're not performing this process on the thumbnails.

If you are using a MAC; hold the option button and click on the image, drag down
to "open image in a new window." If you have a 2 button mouse, right click
and choose "open image in a new window." Then just copy that address,
then when composing your thread/post just click the "IMG" button and paste
the Address (URL) in the prompt window.

If you have enough *VALID posts and you need me to fix your
gallery access, please post to this thread linked below.
    http://www.s14.net/forums/showthread...=&postid=67550
*Valid = Actual and legitimate participation. It's up to our discretion.

All website related questions can be asked in our "Site Comments & FAQ's" forum"
    http://www.s14.net/forums/forumdispl...?s=&forumid=12

    Do not use these anymore:
"I just needed a quick answer"
"I looked but couldn't find it"
"I started a new thread because my first thread wasn't answered 2 minutes ago"
"I started a new thread the same but I have a new issue"
    "Where are the best prices"

You will be reminded by "Searchy!"

    Social Interaction

You are grown-ups. You can disagree. You can curse. You can even argue in the off-topic
forum. But, please respect your fellow enthusiasts and treat other's in a manner
that you would like to be treated in. Except you ADA//M and you ClubracerNV.
You guy's have thicker skin then most.

Again, this is not the social registry. We do have a few colorful characters that
do not write in perfect English. And, I am not talking about those who speak
English as a second and third language. I realize we all share 1 passion, why
make a stink about spelling? As long as it's not gangster slang.
We can save that for the OT forum.

    Guy's have a sense of humor, and don't tell each other's Mommy's.

Also, I'm very proud to mention that 1/3 of our regular membership is from
Europe and Eastern European countries. Such as Netherlands, Germany,
Sweden, UK, etc. I just needed to mention this.

    This is a E30 M3 forum only!

Every forum except the off topic forum is for the E30 M3 (and Italian 320is).
Although we will accept the discussion of other "car brands" were in direct
competition with the E30 M3 (from 1987-1992). Such as Merc 190 E, Cosworths,
Audi's, etc. DTM, Hill Climbs, Rallies, etc.

We welcome everyone that would like to share in the E30 M3 discussion
to register. This includes 2002ti's and all other BMW's that have a S14
engine. But, this isn't the place to learn about the silky smooth
nature of an awesome inline 6. It's also not a place to reserve a screen
name if you do not plan on participating. We reserve the right to erase
    users for inactivity.

The photo Gallery space is for E30 M3's only.
We will not notify you with regard to erasing unacceptable photos. We're
not trying to upset you, but we should not have to request change or
    debate the issue.

    And finally...

I'd like to personally thank you for joining this site and adding to/enhancing what we do best.
    Talk E30 M3 poop.

This thread is not intended to piss you off, or make you feel unwanted.
It is to gently remind you that we are all in different places with regard
to car knowledge. Let's not ruin it for the other new members, regulars,
die-hards and wrench gods by having to enforce rules on grown-ups.

So, sit down, put-up your feet and stay a while.
