Recommendation for Outside Security Cameras

Anyone on here have security cameras on their property? And if so, can you give me any recommendations?

Looking for something that works in total darkness, as well as daytime.

Hey John, We have a property that uses Sony Super HAD CCD cameras, they have weather Guard, Day/Night (Extra Large LED's). They are around $225 a piece, we also have a Arm Electrons 16-channel DVR 1 Tara Bite Hardrive to record everything; that was $2,500. For wire we used around 1,500' of Siamese CLR coax (18/2, RG59/U) which came out to be around $598.50. This system works well, we have about 16 cameras circulating on a 20" flat-screen. If you need more info on the camera's let me know.

I looked into this in TX when a neighbor had an Rx substance problem. The law enforcement people cautioned me to make certain that the camera placed a non-editable watermark on the images. I can't remember what the security company installed but they were amazing.

Wide scanning motion activation, fantastic IR capability. Usable in court but they were $$$. Like 5K for 5 cameras installed with a 1TB hard drive.

Boy, I have alot to learn! I was just going to go to Sam's Club and buy a camera package or something...I need like 4 cameras tops...maybe I could add another system later if need be. The recording data and video quality is important though.
