what happened ? How did the Evo lose it? tire blew? or did he just get in the dirt and over-correct?

looked like his instructer was pissed at him, she kept looking at him and trying to steer the car back onto the track?!? Too bad though...

i'd just given him the point by on the prior straight. he seemed to be really pushing the car and i didn't feel safe with him behind me. just as he went by me and through the curves, he dropped his driver side front wheel into the dirt and jerked it back onto the track. not a good idea.

as he spun it in front of me i realized that he was heading straight for the pit marshall who was standing by the infiniti g35 with his back to the track. you don't see that in the video very clearly, but it made my heart drop. i thought the pit marshall was a dead man, but at the last second he turned around and saw the car coming at him and ran like the wind. i kept going because i knew there was traffic behind me and pulled over farther down the track. i seriously thought that someone was going to be dead or seriously hurt and was sooo relieved when they threw out a black flag a couple of minutes after the accident since i figured they wouldn't be calling us back to the pits if there was a serious medical emergency.

apparently the guy videotaping the whole thing was his friend and steered toward the accident to videotape it rather than listen to his instructor who was yelling at him to stay on the track and away from the incident. hence the music at the end of the video to drown out her yelling.

anyway, a sad way to end a really nice day at the track. the weather had been perfect, though a bit windy, all day.

Pocono east is pretty slow track but WTF were those cars doing parked there ?
Was it the end of the session and were they the next group to go out?
That thing always bothered me about Pocono east, if you somehow go off the track at that place you go straight into the parked cars who align for the next session..

That NSX is total loss

was it PDA event ?

The whole thing is whacked and its great (and surprising) that no one got hurt.

What the heck is up with "IFLYSOLO"??? He's riding with an instructor (not solo), whom he's now ignoring (possibly endangering others) to video tape an accident?!?!?!?!

As a learning tool they could be great, but something about in-car video cameras at DE events bothers me. Certainly at this guy's level he should be focusing on learning to keep it on the pavement and not what his buddies at the office are going to think when he shows them how we was out 'racing around' this weekend.

I know that most insurance companies will not cover on track events. Who gets to pay for the cars that were parked waiting to get on the track??? Sounds like an expensive day for someone that didn't have much experience.

Glad to see that none got hurt.

If she had put her hand on the wheel of any car I was driving, I would have broken it for her.

The sudent is there to drive then instructor is there to advise.

My 2p rant.

Glad there was no-one hurt.

thats common practice for an instructor with a novice imo, the student put the instructors life at risk by doing that and it was totaly wrong. sometimes if a student cant get the car where it needs to be ive seen vids of the instructor moving the wheel so to show them just how to do it. im not an instructor though but thats my 2cents

I couldn't disagree more.

She put her ass on the line getting into his passenger seat, and I'm sure the car had little to no safety equipment. It's her job to instruct and it's his job to listen and do as he's told. He selfishly put her life in danger with a complete, blatant, disregard of her authority. She had every right to be pissed off. After pulling that bullshit I would have made sure that that kid was done for the day and never ran with the club again.
